As you inhale, the smoke gets pulled through the submerged slits in the downstem before breaking on the water surface. The smoke is then pulled up and through the multiple slits in the tree percolator, for even more filtration and cooling, before continuing up and out of the mouthpiece. A few ice cubes can be placed on the ice notches in the tube to provide further cooling of the smoke. This process delivers a smoother, frosty hit that’s full of flavor and less harsh on the throat.
